KITA Holds “2021 World IT Show” …Participation from prominent tech companies all over the world

    - Robots with video call features toured the exhibition hall to carry out video consultations on behalf of overseas buyers-

The “2021 World IT Show” hosted by the Korea International Trade Association (Chairman: Christopher Koo) took place at COEX in Samseong-dong on April 21st - 23rd.

Under the theme of “Digital New Deal with 5G Technology,” three hundred five companies, including established corporations such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, SK Telecom (SKT), and KT. Also, institutions and promising SMEs from four areas of: non-face-to-face technology; AI and IoT; early tech adopter; and ICT convergence service participated in the event.

It is worth noting the role robots played in the exhibition; they toured the venue and hosted video consultations. Overseas buyers who could not visit Korea in person because of COVID-19 were able to access the robots remotely and use its video call feature. The robots could visit the participating companies’ booth on behalf of the overseas buyers, show the products, and arrange on-spot meetings.

The meeting portion of the exhibition took place online for two days. Forty major telecommunications companies and retail tech & service buyers from nine countries joined the event (Anovo, a Chinese industrial computer development company, Telkom Indonesia, the largest telecommunications company in Indonesia, and FPT Software, an IT software service company in Vietnam, to name a few). They met with eighty Korean tech companies. Additionally, Korea’s ten Certified Trade companies toured the event venue and held business meetings with promising companies to help diversify their overseas marketing channels.

Vu Khoan, general director of R&D at Viettel, Vietnam's largest communications company, said, “We are developing services such as Dynamic Ad Insertion(DAI) Technology, which displays customized and targeted commercials to individual users watching the video,” and added, “I am participating in this event to find excellent media service companies in Korea.”

Kim Hyun-chul, the head of the Global Marketing Group at KITA, stated, ”ICT export volume showed a growing trend for the past ten consecutive months. This trend is most likely from pent-up demand surging following the pandemic and from the recovery in the mobile phone market,” and added, “We will provide more opportunities for Korean SMEs to ride this wave and showcase their outstanding technology to the global bit buyers.”
